South Florida-based rock band The Von is made up of vocalist/bassist Luis and guitarist Marek – two members from two different continents that share common interests in classic metal, rock, electronica and optimal sound production. Through mutual friends, they formed a bond by talking about their favorite rock n’ roll legends, bands that are now big influencers in The Von’s music. The Von have taken their obsession of pitch-perfect audio and built a robust recording studio in South Florida where they’ve recorded the tracks for their upcoming album, “Ei8ht”, set to release in mid-2015.

We recently had the privilege of listening to The Von’s latest single release ‘Nothing To Fear’, in an infinity of edits and remixes. The Von has made a really killer single that combines their awesome musical virtuosity with some intense rock grooves and powerful vocals. The sound of the song is very much in a classic rock vein with lots of excellent bass work and strong vocals from Luis who gives a solid performance in both tone and style on this awesome track.

The single sounds huge and is truly well-engineered and produced. The brilliant bass groove of ‘Nothing To Fear’ cracks into a massive chorus hook, while Marek brings in some crunching guitar riffs and scorching solo interludes.

The Von consistently show their amazing technical abilities in mixing, producing and performing, while writing lots of big riffs and memorable choruses that rival the best in this style of music. This is definitely one of the strongest rock singles of the year and hopefully leads to an exciting album in “Ei8ht”.

The Von are highly recommended to fans of quality rock, but the single remixes will be found just as satisfying by electronic music fans, as Czech EDM artist Filip Stan, lends his talents to the single’s Dubstep version. The single also features a bonus track called Yenruoj Yranidroartxe (read backwards – Extraordinary Journey). In fact you’ll need to play the song backwards to grasp its meaning. Here are some of the lyrics to whet your appetite:

smoc lliw modeerf ym smaerd yM

slaog my hcaer ot drah krow I

epoh tog osla I tub sraef tog I

og ot selim ynam tog I epoh I hguohT

All throughout the single versions, The Von come right out with massive power but they are textured and melodic. Of course, anybody who knows this genre of music will expect complex and jaw-dropping breakdowns, unisons, harmonies, and instrumental prowess, uplifting energy-charged lyrics, and if that’s what you’re into you won’t be disappointed.

But the really great thing about ‘Nothing To Fear’ is that it isn’t one-dimensional, and the hard-driving rock and over-the-top musicianship has plenty of really inspiring melody and interesting interludes together with extraordinary musical dynamics.

The end result is a single with well thought out change-ups, crushing monster bass and guitar grooves that have tons of texture as well as melodic chorus lines and very original edits and remixes.

It takes a special breed of musician who can traverse epic stylistic territories to make this all work successfully – Luis and Marek, better known as The Von, prove they have exactly what it takes on ‘Nothing To Fear’!
