Multi-nominated and award winning urban artist, Hunnid rises from the Southside of Chicago, where at 18 he started taking music seriously. However it’s more than music with Hunnid, as he states, “I’m speaking for those people at the bottom without power or a voice, it’s bigger than me! Not many people can do what I do and be good at it but that’s not my goal with music. My goal is to bring power to the powerless through music, I actually have a message.”

One of the tracks making big waves for Hunnid is “CCG Or Die” (Produced By Chino) W.A.T.T.B.A.S. Here he is paying homage to Pimp C and Big Bun and filmed the song’s supporting video in Houston’s Third Ward, referred to in the game as ‘The Tre’. Hunnid delivers music that is intended to fight the wackness that rap has become.

Hunnid

Purposely blowing up the pimp persona that permeates much of mainstream hip-hop, Hunnid is a paean to the working-class, particularly minorities, those who buy rap albums rather than make them.

Hunnid’s gift for honesty – real honesty, not the tired “keeping it real” crap – elevates his songs to powerful portraits of real-life experiences. Known for his lyrical content, delivery in terms of storytelling and most importantly rhyming ability, Hunnid does nothing to disappoint and delivers all three factors truly well. “CCG Or Die” encapsulates the story telling skills he possesses as he takes you on a personal journey.

The overall vibe of the track is highly energetic – catchy hooks, fast paced rhyming and an all-round entertaining listen. It can be argued that Hunnid can certainly ride a beat and holds enough content to compliment the production which parallels the track. Certainly a hard act to follow, Hunnid solidifies himself in the game and stamps his own mark and presence in an impressive track.

He uses a mixture of gritty charm and classic hip-hop swagger to create a naturally confident style that is as engaging as it is welcoming. An imposing persona, He is the kind of battle cat who can make the competition squirm before even touching the mic.

Everyone has been whining about how they want something different in hip-hop. Well something different has been delivered via Chicago rapper Hunnid. In a time when mediocrity is seen as a norm and widely accepted as music, “CCG Or Die” is a clear upsetter of such a trend.

On a technical note, the beat produced by Chino is fantastic and it supports Hunnid’s strong rapping skills perfectly, as he shows his crazy range and firm grasp of hip-hop.
