In the last 6 or 7 years electronic dance music has turned into an even bigger monster. Avicii dominated Spotify, David Guetta headlined festivals, and Calvin Harris is one of the world’s highest-paid performers. It means that festival line-ups, the charts, and some would even argue Ibiza, are oversaturated with the stuff. But the Swiss electronic duo who go by the name of Pool Moon Elephant prove they can also hold their own relevance in a very busy genre. Riccardo Studer and Ivan Nurchis, this time around, use intriguing collaborations to remix their single “Island’s Eye” which has been released in 3 versions – the Radio Edit, the Lorenzo Molinari Remix, and the Stereonetic Remix.

The triple sided single was released exclusively via Beatport, DjTunes and eMusic on April 26, while the official worldwide release is set for May 10. What Pool Moon Elephant have produced is an intriguing and captivating soundscape with their choir of machines.

It’s enough to be a resolute installment in their impressive catalogue, and one that certifies their position as longstanding purveyors of dance, considering that Riccardo Studer and Ivan Nurchis, have more than 20 years of experience in roles that move between the music, TV and film industries.

Lorenzo Molinari is another double decade Dj who has opened and closed sets for Bob Sinclair on his Caribbean tour. He has also been the resident DJ in some of the most prestigious clubs in St. Martin, Bath and Martinique. Stereonetic on the other hand is a 17 year old German Producer/Dj, who has released commercial remixes for artists such as 2 Chainz, JackEL, Action Jackson, and Lemi Vice.

Pool Moon Elephant are more than just the elder statesmen of modern dance music. And it’s difficult to deny that the Swiss duo take dance music from the confines of basement sessions and clubs to mainstream audiences everywhere with their latest tracks.

Riccardo Studer and Ivan Nurchis have long been exploring the sounds from the sounds, the effects within the effects, yes, music born in the echoes, if you will. This ongoing exploration into the furthest reaches of sound married with an assortment of giddy thrilling beats.

You imagine them shrinking down to have an adventure in their wheezing antique equipment, literally bending the wires, pushing it to its limits and showing that new forms, sounds and shapes are still out there.

“Island’s Eye” is Pool Moon Elephant returning to their key field of expertise, and consolidating the brand. The duo has rooted themselves in what they do best: making chunky, off-kilter dance music with infectious hooks. This pulsing dance-floor stomp states the duo’s intentions loud and clear.

“Island’s Eye” doesn’t rely on nostalgia of their past form and simply rehashing old ideas, but it does a damn good job of reminding the listener that Pool Moon Elephant are here to continue to forge their own path.

Combining hypnotically pounding passages of standard bass-heavy techno with glimpses of euphoric instrumentation, and crisp splatters of vocal samples, plainly, “Island’s Eye” (Radio Edit) sounds fresh but undoubtedly Pool Moon Elephant. The remixed versions take the radio edit in two different directions.

Lorenzo Molinari’s version is more spacious electro and almost ambient orientated, while Stereonetic veers to a very sophisticated dubstep version that avoids the growling synths. Pool Moon Elephant have crafted a legitimately varied electronic track and a massively thumping dance record in one go, as well as created an immensely satisfying listen in the process.
