Get Tribal is a transcendental music project from the US, created under the direction of Kari Hohne, author of mythological studies and books about dream interpretation. She combines ancient shamanistic drumming patterns and tonal vibrations with modern technology and ethnic instruments to create a world fusion sound with emotional and energetic impact. As the creator of many affirmation apps that have achieved new and noteworthy status at ITunes, she continues to use sound, music, dreams and myth as a way of connecting with our energetic awareness. Kari is best known for her work in dream interpretation where her app Way of Dreams is in the top of the Lifestyle category at both Amazon and ITunes.

Excellent for Yoga, movement, dance or just chilling out, Kari Hohne’s Get Tribal project delivers some songs that can be used as peaceful background or contemplation music and others which are even adapt at being exotic dance tunes. On “God Of Drum”, Get Tribal produce a wonderful fusion of different cultures, rhythms and beats that are simply intoxicating, healing, dream invoking and smooth flowing.

The “God Of Drum” album consists of 10 tracks which draw influences from cultures that are spread across American Indian, Gaelic, China, Celtic, Africa, Babylon, Anatolia, Maya and India. The tracks which are percussion driven are designed to stimulate the 7 major Chakras, the Dantien, the Soul Star and Spirit Chakras. Like the Ancient tribes who revered thunder as the divine element that activated spring’s rebirth, Get Tribal aim to use percussion sounds to synchronize the heart, mind and soul with the same vital life force.

In fact each track has a specific purpose, for example; to awaken passion, to release blockages, to activate power, to center in wellness, to achieve enlightenment and so on and so forth. Some chakra music can be challenging to listen to. With this recording by Get Tribal, even if you can’t distinguish a chakra from a raspberry, it won’t matter in the least.

God Of Drum” invites you into a perfect place where you can infuse your mind and soul with healing. The music allows you to connect with the invisible dimension of peace inside of you; at any time you want to access relaxation and positive emotions. The beats and rhythms will wake up every cell in your body and you’ll feel more energized than ever. This music seems to tap into something primal, making you feel the connection between your body and the earth.

Although curious about chakras, I don’t know much about them; what I do know is that this music reaches in and moves me in unexpected ways. Each track possesses its own complexity of rhythms and sounds, while some also include vocal interludes.

This is obviously not an album where you pick out favorite tracks above others, but I have to admit a softer spot for “The Flow Of Expression”, “Open To Wonder”, “Transcending Boundaries” and above all, “Endless Reflection”.

The rhythms in this album are quite compelling. “God Of Drum” is a wonderful, moving experience. Get Tribal and Kari Hohne capture the essence of rhythm, and sends listeners on a deep inner journey. This is a beautiful recording that increasingly grows on you. Highly recommended for anyone interested in dance, percussion, spirituality, meditation, or just plain good vibes!
