Hailing from Southern Germany, the JUNKSISTA duo offers a fresh and electric mix of catchy electro tunes, sexually explicit lyrics, sensual half-sung half-spoken female vocals, funky guitar riffs and tons of bass and synthesizer filled grooves. Experienced producer and accomplished guitar player, Boog brings that magic modern touch to Diana’s artistic skills, natural craziness and horny vocals that make you irresistibly shake your ass on JUNKSISTA’s tunes.

Belgian Label Alfa-Matrix did a considerable promotion to bring Junksista into the picture. The release of the EP’s “You’re My Favourite Thing To Do”, “Paranoid” and “Naked Wet Hot” simply confirmed all the trust of the label in this German duo. I was really wondering how this debut full length would sound like and I can already reveal you right now, I was not disappointed. When it comes to define the music of the duo you’ll be facing a kind of enigma.

Junksista is using that much influences in their writing it’s nearly impossible to describe it as an established style. You have to focus on their influences, which move from rough, but groovy electro-industrial loops to electroclash to cyber-rock to pop and punk to a few more influences to get an idea about this sound chameleons. But the main strength behind Junksista is that they have a very own sound you will immediately recognize. They sometimes remind me a bit of the groovy debut years of Daft Punk and also to the crazy electroclash style of Sexy Sushi. Guitars and electronics are in perfect harmony with each other. It often gives me a feeling of punk- and pop music merging together. The sexy vocals of Diana S. still is an essential aspect of this band… and her lyrics are damn crazy!

There’s an impressive number of great songs. I like the diversity of the tracks, the provocative lyrics but also the certain minimalism in this work. “Liebe 2.0” and “Fabulous” are my personal favorites, but there’s much more to mention. “Bad Case Of Fabulous” is a fascinating album that takes you away for a terrific dance trip. It’s pure pleasure and lust for the ears.

The bonus disc is featuring 11 remixes. Most of the remixes have been made by other Alfa-Matrix bands. This is a fine selection featuring bands like Aesthetische, Diffuzion, Neikka RPM, and also the harder and metal-sounding Helalyn Flowers. The opening remix by Marsheaux is another interesting feature.

Just to make sure all you dirty little minds are getting your fair share of sexy songs under the mistletoe, Junksista and Holly the Holiday have released the song, “Dirty Christmas” which you can grab here or you can watch the lyric video on YouTube here.
