“If I Could Write a Love Song” is the latest single from Tally Koren, released worldwide to all major streaming services on Valentine’s Day 2022. With lyrics written by award-winning Australian poet John Hansen, the song opens with the singer alone accompanied only by a solo piano. Through the first verse she introduces a tale of love and longing in a series of poetic stanzas riffing on the theme of the song’s title.
As the song progresses the ensemble expands to include drums, bass and ethereal orchestral strings. In the chorus the singer meets a choir of backing vocal harmonies repeating the simple and heartfelt refrain, “I just want to be by your side.” Tally Koren delivers a powerfully emotional performance ranging from the quietest whisper to stratospheric highs.
