The founder of this innovative musical endeavor is Alex Syniakov, who successfully experiments across the genres of heavy metal, rock, jazz, and pop. Paradoxically, New Laconia’s genre eclecticism delivers accessible and uplifting tracks that invite both dancing and contemplation, a unique feat in the contemporary music scene.
New Laconia’s compositions explore themes of joy, fantasy, and adventure, enriched with playful riffs. The project also draws inspiration from literature and film, crafting songs that tell stories. The musical philosophy of the project is evident from their debut single, “Stardust Bear Bazaar,” which, beneath its lively and dynamic groove, conceals a unique science fiction narrative.
New Laconia is in the process of materializing an immersive creative universe that draws from a broad spectrum of musical influences, including video game soundtracks, film scores, progressive rock, and fantasy and science fiction literature.
“Stardust Bear Bazaar,” the debut single, narrates the tale of a cosmic pub of the same name, its inhabitants, and its eclectic clientele. The protagonist, Bear, the pub’s proprietor, is trapped in a time loop and possesses portals to other universes. These portals, manipulated by the villainous Time, have been transformed into time machines, causing chaos.
In March 2025, the project’s creative universe expanded with the release of “The Fates,” a song dedicated to the three goddesses of destiny from Greek mythology — the Moirai (Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos). This track continues the narrative established in their debut single and introduces a new plotline to the world of New Laconia.
According to myth, these goddesses determine the life path of every being. Within the context of the Stardust Bear Bazaar, they appear in the cozy pub at the edge of the universe, where travelers from various worlds converge through portals.
“In ‘The Fates,’ the Moirai weave threads of destiny, play cards, and cryptically comment on the guests’ choices, hinting at the inevitability of their fates. They act as both observers and participants, subtly influencing the narrative,” explains Alex Syniakov, the project’s founder.
The song evokes a sense of an invisible yet inescapable web of events, like threads of destiny stretching across time and space. It resembles a delicate spiderweb that trembles with each touch or an ancient tapestry gradually revealing its pattern. The atmosphere is mystical and fatalistic, as if a guest at the Stardust Bear Bazaar realizes that all events are predetermined yet still hopes to alter their course.
The single carries a significant message, relevant even to those unfamiliar with the New Laconia universe: “Destiny is not a sentence but a tapestry of possibilities. We live among the threads, but we can choose which ones to pull,” the project team elucidates.
This track invites listeners to dance, relax, and imagine themselves in a foggy bar at the edge of the universe, where they can overhear the whispers of the Moirai themselves. Alex Syniakov dedicated this song to his Greek ancestors and encourages listeners to reflect on their own paths, reminding them that not everything is predetermined. We have the power to choose.
