Fabp aka Fabpz the Freelancer: “Ugly Gal Theme” – echoes our delight, our rapture, our passions and even our fears

That Fabp aka Fabpz the Freelancer is an eclectic artist and label owner, is pretty much a known fact. That he has a sharp sense of humor built into his playfully lyrics are now an added supplement to his skills that I previously did not notice. And on “Ugly Gal Theme” Fabp lays them out on the table as he tells us he wants no ugly girl to love him. “She doesn’t love you, she loves me. She’d better run, she’d better flee. I don’t want an ugly girl to love me”, sings Fabp aka Fabpz the Freelancer.

“Ugly Gal Theme” is out on the X-Calade Promotionz label. And as usual, Fabp gives us the original version plus an instrumental and Acappella version. As a crossover dancehall/hiphop master,  Fabp aka Fabpz the Freelancer always displays a try-anything spirit very much in keeping with the reggae tradition. I will admit there are times I don’t totally understand what Fabp is saying, and  I have to push repeat to catch the phrase, but I’m so caught up in his cranky rhythms and adlib vocal interludes,  I really don’t care.

Fabpz the Freelancer has plenty of skills to go around. He often raps about females and booty, but it is the way he delivers them. Packed with an unusual flow and voice Fabpz is his own artist and separates himself from the clichéd rappers and dancehall artists out today. Fabpz the Freelancer does not try to dazzle you with wicked wordplay or cussing language, instead he’s more about freestyle storytelling over a bassy slow groove that captures each song in another light.

When listening to Fabpz you discover how limitless the magic of music is, and how artists can be true magicians. The incredible thing about Fabpz the Freelancer’s music is his immense courage to his thing, his was. How he can echo our delight, our rapture, our passions and even our fears. Sometimes you can almost trace a whole story between the folds of this music. You will surely find yourself captured between the rapping and musical notes. And between this and that, you will have no choice but to take your hat off for this artist and love him for the music he is attempting to make in the face of mainstream hostility.
