Dillon Ryan is a multi-disciplinary artist, creating music, along with visual and functional art for not only herself and the public, but for causes close and dear to her heart. Her journey was born of personal heartbreak: caring for her mother throughout a long battle with cancer, she realized how little help there was available to the caregivers, families and loved ones of those who suffer.
Transitioning from childhood to head of the household, coupled with the devastating loss of a parent at a tender age would shape her art for years to come, and have led to the conception of this project, both a heartfelt tribute and a need to connect with and help others who are suffering similar tragedies.
Dillon is a published author and freelance writer. She released her debut CD, “Dillon Ryan – That Monster: Chapter III” in 2014 on the Black Bullet Productions label. The deeply personal songs tell the story of her transition to adulthood, the heartbreaking loss of a parent, of losing herself, and then rediscovering herself as an artist as she emerged from these dark times. Her ability to connect emotionally with her audience has won her thousands of followers on twitter and other social media sites, and her fan base is growing daily.
Fueled by a deep connection to the images and archetypes she creates in her art, Dillon has decided to transform some of these ideas into products inspired by her poetry, lyrics and stories. Paintings, jewelry, functional items such as mugs, notebooks and even sunglasses are sorted into collections, and are all hand-designed by Dillon herself.
“…I can’t help but feel I could have done a better job taking care of my mother if I hadn’t had to worry about keeping the heat on and struggling to keep my job because of all the time off I had to take. I don’t understand why there aren’t programs to help caregivers”. -Dillon Ryan
Dillon has some other worthy charities near and dear to her, and has curated special collections whose proceeds will go to these causes. Money earned from the collection based on her song “Dear Me” will go to a Suicide Prevention/Anti Bullying organization, and she has also earmarked specific items which will directly benefit Mental Health funds in honor of those whose struggles she has witnessed.
Dillon’s ability to connect emotionally with her audience has won her thousands of followers on Twitter, Facebook and other social media sites, and her fan base is growing daily!
