New York, NY – A Plea For Peace, Sanity And Gun Control. In Response To The Recent Pittsburgh Synagogue And California Mass Shootings.
America is plagued by hatred and wanton, senseless gun violence. Yesterday it was 12 college age people who were gunned down in California. Just two weeks ago it was a mass shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh which took 11 lives. And many more such tragedies have occurred over the years. Something has to be done.
Robert Miller, leader of the band Project Grand Slam, decided to do something. He has written and released today a song called “Tree Of Life (Dedicated To The Victims)” – a plea for peace, sanity and gun control. While written in the aftermath of the synagogue shooting, it is truly in response to all these horrible acts of violence.
It is Robert’s hope that this song will help to eradicate the hatred and senseless and horrific gun violence that has overwhelmed our nation and the world, at the same time raising money for the families of the victims.
Says Robert: “It has affected me deeply to be bombarded constantly with all the hatred, anti-Semitism, and gun violence in our country. And unfortunately, the hatred and violence runs very deep. I felt like I had to do something in response – a plea to stop the madness – particularly since our leaders have not done anything to bring the country together and change things. I’m hoping that this song will help in some small way.”
The song is spare, haunting, mournful and deeply affecting, featuring only voice and piano. Reactions to date include “Beautiful”, “Straight from the heart”, and “Just what we need”.
The song is now available for listening on YouTube at https://youtu.be/6Ye9hQQ90lY, for download on iTunes at https://itunes.apple.com/album/id1441162714?app=itunes, Amazon and similar sites, and for streaming on Apple Music at https://itunes.apple.com/album/id1441162714 and on Spotify. 100% of the proceeds from the song will be distributed to the Go Fund Me campaign started for the families of the synagogue victims.
Adds Robert: “I want to thank two of my bandmates – Ziarra Washington (singer) and Baden Goyo (piano) – and Lou Holtzman of EastSide Sound, our recording engineer, for contributing their time and talent to the song”.
