Da’Wan Gold is back with new music that dives deeper into one’s personality as it revolves around themes of self-discovery, balance, and acceptance. His latest song is titled ‘All Of You’ and is part of a 13-song project he dubbed ‘Ego Trip’. “All Of You describes finding what you believe is important to you so no one can tell you anything. Just show you proof of your truth, no hiding from yourself and exposing every part of you. We can’t just give a portion, we have to have our whole body, mind, and soul into what we are doing,” he said.
Meanwhile, ‘Ego Trip’ is a follow-up to his last album, Late Bloomer, which was about discovering the self later in life, causing people to build this disguise or mask to show people we have things figured out.
‘Ego Trip’, according to Da’Wan, is about discovering the good and bad in one’s self while searching for the balance one need to become a well-rounded person who’s trying to navigate their way through life.
Da’Wan is undeniably passionate about music and making it. “We all know music has the power to change any feeling, make you happy when you’re sad, or make you laugh when you’re mad,” he said. “I remember being a soldier—compressed fighting, just taking orders, and not being able to express my emotions. When I was able to, they were like an emotional roller coaster. Music helped me with that connection.”
As a combat veteran, he used music as a coping mechanism to deal with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI). After a while, he decided to start a career in music to show people the power of music and how it can connect people. “My goal is to speak to as many people through music and art as well as show them that your trauma doesn’t define you. I’ve used my trauma to inspire others and create a new life which I didn’t think was possible at first,” he said.
He now plans to release new music each month for 13 months, so it’s best to stay tuned to see what he has to offer listeners who want to explore more about themselves or get in touch with their emotions. Da’Wan Gold’s music is available on major streaming platforms and stations, including Deezer, Apple Music, iHeart radio, SoundCloud, Spotify, and VIRPP, to name a few.
