Some characters are created in a studio. Others simply walk through the door. Kawaii Cat has a rather unusual origin story. During a home renovation on 26 May 2024, a cat walked into the kitchen – and decided she wasn’t leaving.
What began as an unexpected visit became the real-life inspiration for one of the original characters in the Yellow Heart Collection. From that day, Kawaii Cat became part of the creative world of Me Mes, where real-life moments can become anime-inspired stories, music and punk rock adventures.
Her story eventually inspired the playful song “Where’s My Kitty?”, turning the mystery of a missing kitty into a musical adventure. What sounds like an imaginary anime tale has its roots in a very real cat who unexpectedly found a place in the Yellow Heart universe.
Kawaii Cat now joins Me Mes and other original characters in a growing collection of music-driven stories combining anime-inspired visuals, folk-pop influences and storytelling.
26 May 2024 marks Kawaii Cat’s first appearance and the date she officially became part of the Yellow Heart Collection. Her journey is a reminder that sometimes the best characters aren’t planned – they simply walk into your life.
