Heistheartist is an American Christian singer-songwriter from Central Islip, NY. Formerly a secular neo-soul singer signed to Bentley Records under his biological name LeeMann Bassey, Heistheartist discovered that his true calling was with the Lord, after hearing an inspiring sermon by TD Jakes online one day. That day he was inspired to teach the world about the Lord like TD Jakes did with his Sermon, but through music. The song “Boom” – a song that mixes sensuality with religion – is actually based on a dream that Heistheartist had one night, in which he had relations with an angel. “Boom” (Love Version) is a non-religious version of the song, made so that anybody can relate to its message, regardless of their religious background.
“Boom” (Love Version) finds Heistheartist writing a richly emotional song for a quieter, more meditative space. He is simply a great storyteller, and it comes through on this song. Currently, in these troubled times, there is a powerful yearning for this kind of perspective in music, as Heistheartist soothes with his voice, without losing sight of what’s important in the message.
On its surface, the track seems tremendously insular. Its sparseness suggests a person in an intimate setting with only a keyboard, a beat machine and thoughts for the world. But it isn’t just anyone emoting from the darkness, it’s Heistheartist. In his hands, such intimacy attracts the ear, infiltrates the brain, and reaches the soul. “Boom” (Love Version) is filled with feelings and ideas – deep love, stimulating philosophy.
Heistheartist offers a view into unseen places and overlooked sentiments. The power of Heistheartist’s work comes via extreme contemplation. It’s about how he’s able to locate the crux of emotion, and peel things back to their naked core.
The unobtrusive instrumentation allows Heistheartist’s voice to enter gently as the overall quietness turns into a soft sensual spotlight, capturing attention. He transposes crystal-clear artistry through spiritual glistening, and a somewhat mesmerizing vocal presence.
“Boom” (Love Version) is a pristine body of work, full of character and soul. The lyrical content induces love, joy and justifiable self-reflection, while the production is sweet, ever-changing, and sprinkled with nuanced twists and turns; this project encapsulates Heistheartist’s intricate devotion and imagination, while also beautifully illustrating his artistic talent as an experience to be had.
The track’s greatest feat, is its ability to expand when it’s listened to in a new mindset, each reveal seemingly so apparent that you wonder how you missed it the first time. Heistheartist is more than just his voice, and “Boom” (Love Version) sees him delineate the way in which he’s a true artist, delivering purified emotion. The song is a slow-burn. It reels you in from the first notes and refuses to let you go, even far after the track is finished.
Heistheartist has got the type of voice, charm, and celestial humanity that’s always hoped for, but hardly promised in most artists. Through his personal spirituality, he means to inspire others to understand themselves and others, as well as the world, more fully.
